Episode 13: Eden Royce
Our guest this week is gothic horror writer and recipient of the 2016 Speculative Literature Foundation’s Diverse Worlds grant, Eden Royce.
As a Charleston, South Carolina native, Royce is a member of the Gullah-Geechee nation, a prominent influence in her amazing body of work, including her debut novel “Root Magic”. As a short story writer her work has appeared in anthologies and magazines such as Apex Magazine, Strange Horizons, as well as two collections of her work.
We spoke with Royce about these influences, her experience in publishing her first novel, as well as her thoughts on the world of fiction writing and the inclusion of BIPOC narratives in the community.
We loved speaking with Royce, being very much inspired by her thoughts and experiences. We hope you all enjoy listening to this these weeks episode and we thank you all for your support!
