This week our guest is Dr Peggy Brunache, a Haitian American archaeologist, lecturer, culinary consultant, and foodways specialist.

This was the focus of this week’s episode as we discussed the experience of international travel and the cultural differences of dealing with race as a Caribbean-American woman in the U.K. From establishing new roots, to the restriction places upon her as an international travel into her new home country, our conversation with Dr. Brunache was enlightening as it much as it was informative to her unique experience.

This week our guest is Kevin Garcia, a digital pastor, creative mystic, public theologian and intuitive soul coach based in Atlanta, GA.

Kevin has reached thousands across the globe with messages of faith, regardless of who they are, what they profess, or what they actually believe. Kevin’s the author of Bad Theology Kills: undoing toxic beliefs and reclaiming your spiritual authority, published Kevin’s work also appears in several anthologies by queer people of faith.

Kevin believes that by telling our stories, we set others free to tell their own.

Our guest this week is mixed-media artist and painter Lezley Saar. Her work often revolves around themes of identity, race, gender, beauty, normalcy, and sanity.

As an internationally recognized artist, we were honored to speak with her about her life in art as well as her thought and process behind her work!

Today our guest is Afimaye Galarraga, affectionately referred to by his clients as Spiritual Doctor AFI. Dr. AFI is a well-respected spiritualist, medium and religious leader with over 25 years of experience. He began developing his spiritual abilities at a very young age which lead to his tutelage with elders & gurus in the Yoruba tradition of Lukúmí and Palo Mayombe. We enjoyed Dr. AFI's wealth of knowledge as well as his amazing perspective into spirituality, providing us with beautiful insights on growth and spiritual development!  

Today our guest is Alex Kakuyo, a Buddhist practitioner and teacher based out of Cleveland, Ohio.  We spoke with Alex about his path to finding Buddhism, his current practice and how it shapes his daily life, living the experience of being Buddhist and Black in today’s culture, and his various writings, including his blog Same Old Zen and his most recent book Perfectly Ordinary: Buddhist Teachings for Everyday Life.  

Today our guest is Andrae Steed, a photographer and photojournalist, whose images can be seen in his book Instant Radicals.  In this episode we talked about Andrae’s evolution from photographing everyday life in Venice, California, to capturing compelling images on the frontlines of the Black Lives Matter protests.

Today our guest is Sharon Schaffer, a surfer and activist from Los Angeles, California.  In this episode, we explore Sharon’s amazing life and dive into her unique perspective as the first Black woman in surf to go professional, her spirituality, as well as her experiences as one of the first Black actors working in Hollywood as a stunt double.

Today our guest is Aubrey “Tres” Page, a writer and musician from Houston, Texas. In today’s episode, we had the pleasure of discussing his work as an artist, as well the growing momentum of investing in the representation of black artists and writers in the Sci-fi and entertainment world.
